At Trip Tale, we believe your travel logs and location history are strictly yours. We built this application with a 100% "Local-First" architecture. We do not track you, we do not monitor your movements, and we do not collect any of your data.
We do NOT collect, upload, share, or sell your personal data. There are no databases, no cloud servers, and no remote backups managed by us. Every piece of information generated—including detected trips, custom trip names, journal notes, coordinates, and statistics—remains exclusively in a local database on your device.
We use NO third-party tracking scripts, NO analytics SDKs, and NO advertising identifiers. Your usage of the app is completely private, local, and invisible to us and everyone else.
To automatically map your travel history, the app requests access to your Photo Library. Trip Tale scans the EXIF metadata (specifically GPS coordinates and timestamps) embedded in your existing photos to cluster and identify trips locally. This metadata processing happens entirely on your device's processor using system APIs. None of your photo files, nor their location attributes, are ever transmitted to our servers or third parties.
If you choose to connect Trip Tale to your self-hosted Immich photo server, all API queries and metadata synchronization occur directly between your device and your personal server URL. Trip Tale acts as a direct client without any intermediate servers or proxies.
